Michael Barbieri has joined the cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” according to Heroic Hollywood. Barbieri is only 14 years old and he recently landed another big role as he’ll be playing Timmy in the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower.”

In addition to the casting Comicbook.com is reporting that Michael Barbieri will be playing a new character, but the character will be based off of Ganke from the “Ultimate Spider-Man” series. In the comics Ganke is the best friend of Miles Morales.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is going to tell the tale of a younger Spider-Man but luckily we won’t have to sit through another origin story. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man already made his MCU debut in “Captain America: Civil War” and his performance as Peter Parker/Spider-Man has received almost universal praise from both fans and critics alike.

“Homecoming” will take place during Spider-Man’s high school years and it hits theaters on July 7, 2017. So far Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei and Zendaya have all been confirmed for the film.
